Cam Robinson victim of all-time soft ejection for touching ref’s arm (Video)

Cam Robinson’s Thursday Night Football ejection was softer than soft.

Thursday Night Football between the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars wasn’t must-watch TV, so perhaps the officials decided to spice it up with an ejection.

That’s as good an explanation as you’re going to get for Cam Robinson being tossed for no good reason.

The Jaguars lineman was laying flat on his back as a pile was being cleared following a Gardner Minshew fumble. When he made contact with a ref in the process of extracting himself from the pile, flags were thrown.

Robinson had a Dolphins players hovering above him. For all he could see, the arms holding him down belonged to an opponent. He wasn’t taking a swipe at a ref. Nor was the ref in any danger of being harmed. He literally just moved his arm aside.

The game between the Jaguars and the Dolphins was already a blowout when Robinson was ejected, so at least the dumb call probably didn’t impact the outcome. Still, it should go down as one of the all-time worst ejections.

Cam Robinson’s ejection was the cherry on top of Jacksonville’s Thursday night.

Losing Robinson was the least of the Jaguars’ problems on Thursday. Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins pulled out to an early 14-0 lead before the first quarter was even over. Even though James Robinson found the endzone in the second quarter, Jacksonville entered the half trailing 21-7.

Hopes of a comeback were pretty much dashed as Robinson was ejected, the Dolphins took possession and Fitzpatrick ran for a touchdown to make it 28-7 going into the fourth quarter.

A fourth-quarter score by the Jags should make the score look more even than it was for most of the game.

Robinson was a second-round selection by the Jaguars in 2017 out of Alabama. He has started 33 games for the team despite missing most of the 2018 season with an ACL tear.
