Bills and All-Pro CB Tre’Davious White finalize huge four-year extension

Tre’Davious White just got paid big-time money by the Buffalo Bills.

It’s good to be Tre’Davious White and the Buffalo Bills heading into the 2020 NFL season.

According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, “The Bills and Pro Bowl CB Tre’Davious White have an agreement on a massive new extension, sources say. Another big-time player getting paid.” He ended that tweet with three money bag emojis, and that’s how we know White got paid the big bucks by the Bills on Saturday evening.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “Bills are giving CB Tre’Davious White a four-year, $70 million extension, including $55M guaranteed, source tells ESPN. Total value of deal is $82.1M. White is doing his deal after three years, which makes it even more striking. He is 25 years old and could hit the market again.” Look for White to have a ball in his 20s starring on this Bills defense.

The Bills defense is good, but is it good enough to play in Super Bowls?

Buffalo has a great opportunity to win the AFC East for the first time since Jim Kelly was their hall-of-fame quarterback. Playing in the same division as the Evil Empire New England Patriots has taken a toll on the three other rivals. However, the Bills seem to be in the best shape of any of them to take the throne from New England and win the division this fall. How do they do it?

It’s pretty simple really, as Buffalo has only shown us one way it can win. To win, the Bills must win with defense, running the ball and not turning the football over. As long as quarterback Josh Allen remains unrefined, we can’t trust the Bills to hang tough in an all-out aerial assault shootout. That’s why paying White out the wazoo is so incredibly important. They need him to win big.

So can the Bills win the division this year? Absolutely, and it’s not just because Tom Brady doesn’t play in the AFC East anymore. New England is vulnerable, even if Cam Newton is their new starting quarterback. The Miami Dolphins are about a year or so away from being a real threat and the New York Jets are fluctuating in and out of tailspin at all times because they are the Jets.

Winning the AFC East could get the Bills the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoff picture. However, they will remain a rung below the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens for AFC supremacy. Getting to a Super Bowl in 2020 is not impossible, but don’t bank on that happening. For it to manifest, the Bills will need an all-time defense to even get to the AFC title bout, which is possible.

Locking up White is a way the Bills can make up for letting Stephon Gilmore go to New England.
