Browns running back Nick Chubb has extra motivation for 2020

Nick Chubb will look to reach another level in 2020 and is extra motivated after coming a few yards shy of winning the rushing title last year.

If there’s one Browns player who pulled his weight in 2019, it’s running back Nick Chubb. In his sophomore season, the former Georgia running back rushed for 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns. However, something happened that provided Chubb with some extra motivation for the 2020 season.

Chubb will look to win the rushing title in 2020 after having it taken from him by Derrick Henry in Week 17 last season. Heading into Week 17, Chubb had a 124 yard lead on Henry in the title race. Henry busted out for 211 yards and three touchdowns against the Texans and took home the rushing title along the way.

Chubb rushed for only 41 yards in Week 17, his lowest tally of the season. What makes it even worse is the fact that the Browns faced off against the Bengals, who had the worst rushing defense in the NFL.

Chubb has cemented himself as one of the league’s best backs

In 2020, Chubb will look to reclaim the title that should have been his in 2019. He’ll be a major part of a Browns team that will be looking to fulfill the expectations they weren’t able to last year. With the extra motivation, he’ll look to reach another level in 2020. That level could get the Browns to the postseason and reward him with a rushing title.

In 2020, he’ll likely battle Henry for the rushing title again. After Henry signed a monster four-year, $50 million extension this offseason, the Titans will likely lean on him to gain a majority of their yards on offense. With two years left on his rookie deal, Chubb will look to sign a similar extension when his contract comes up.
