Chris Jones drops the epic Rock intro on radio spot

Chris Jones’ inner wrestling fan escaped during a radio intro.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has plenty to be happy about. Back in February, Jones hoisted the Lombardi Trophy after the team defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. And last week, Jones received his coveted contract extension, which pays him $80 million over the next four years.

Jones’ exuberance translated over the radio waves during an interview with 610SportsKC on Monday, as he introduced himself as “Stone Cold Jones” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s signature catchphrase.

“Stone Cold Jones” is looking forward to his future

While we respect Jones for channeling his inner wrestling fan, we must critique him a bit. His nickname is “Stone Cold,” so why didn’t he drop Steve Austin’s famous quote?

“And that’s the bottom line, because “Stone Cold Jones” said so!” Come on, it was right there for the taking Chris! But hey, his Rock impersonation was pretty spot on, so we’ll give him that.

Prior to agreeing to terms on a new deal, Jones was threatening to hold out a la Le’Veon Bell. However, that threat came as the Chiefs were looking to lock in quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Luckily for Jones, Mahomes agreed to a half-billion dollar deal that gave the team wriggle room to secure the stud defensive tackle. Because of that, Jones didn’t have to give general manager Brett Veach a “Stone Cold Stunner” at the team facility just to get a deal done!

The Chiefs are primed to become the next dynasty in the NFL with Mahomes and Jones under contract for the foreseeable future.
